Starting with Wisconsin blues stalwart Howard “Guitar” Luedtke and his band, Blue Max, and continuing with The Jimmys and Albert Castiglia, Friday’s music at the 2108 Northwoods Blues Festival in Chippewa Falls was as hot as the outside air.
The temperature soared to 100 degrees at the Northern Wisconsin State Fairgrounds, and the heat index blasted even higher. That chased people to the open-air but covered beer hall and any stray spot of shade they could find.
But festival-goers stuck with it. And by the time headliner Jimmy Thackery took the stage, temps had dropped with the sun but Thackery’s set turned the heat back on.
